Recording guide
How to record your squat
A bodyweight squat: you lower with control to a comfortable depth and stand back up.
Set up the camera
- Side-on or front-on, never at an angle: the camera faces your side or your chest.
- Fixed, on a tripod or propped up: don't follow the movement by hand.
- About three meters away and at hip height, with your whole body in frame, from feet to head.
- Good light, a clear background and clothes that let the knee and hip show.
Side-on or front-on
- From the side, it measures how much the knee and trunk bend.
- From the front, it measures whether each knee caves in (valgus) on landing or on the way down.
- KinesiApp detects the view on its own. If you record at an angle, the analysis warns that it is approximate.
Video limits
- Up to 40 seconds per video. Recording stops by itself when it gets there.
- Files up to 100 MB.
The server sets these limits and this page updates itself when they change.
How to perform it
- 1Feet hip-width apart and arms forward for balance.
- 2Lower by pushing your hips back, chest up.
- 3Go as deep as you can without lifting your heels.
- 4Stand up without bouncing and repeat at a steady pace.
What ruins the measurement
Recording at an angle: neither side-on nor front-on, the angles come out approximate.
Someone else crossing the frame during the set.
Cutting the video before the last rep is up.
