Recording guide
How to record your jump
A countermovement vertical jump: you dip, drive up with your arms and land in the same spot.
Set up the camera
- Side-on or front-on, never at an angle: the camera faces your side or your chest.
- Fixed, on a tripod or propped up: don't follow the movement by hand.
- About three meters away and at hip height, with your whole body in frame, from feet to head.
- Good light, a clear background and clothes that let the knee and hip show.
Side-on or front-on
- From the side, it measures how much the knee and trunk bend.
- From the front, it measures whether each knee caves in (valgus) on landing or on the way down.
- KinesiApp detects the view on its own. If you record at an angle, the analysis warns that it is approximate.
Video limits
- Up to 40 seconds per video. Recording stops by itself when it gets there.
- Files up to 100 MB.
The server sets these limits and this page updates itself when they change.
How to perform it
- 1Start standing still for a second, side-on to the camera.
- 2Dip quickly bending knees and hips, and swing your arms back.
- 3Jump as high as you can, swinging your arms up.
- 4Land on the balls of your feet and absorb by bending your knees.
- 5You can do several jumps in the same video, with a short pause between them.
What ruins the measurement
Leaving the frame during flight: leave room above your head.
Turning your body toward the camera when landing.
Recording in slow motion or with a filter that crops the video.
